Typically, initial assessments last 60-90 minutes and involve a range of assessment methods, such as:

It is always useful to bring along your child’s red book, as well as any relevant reports from other professionals such as previous speech therapy, audiology, ENT, occupational therapy etc. Plus any educational reports that might be relevant e.g. EHC Plans or nursery / school reports.
It can also be very helpful to bring along a short video of your child communicating naturally in the comfort of their home environment. This means we can have a peek at how they communicate naturally at home, as some children may initially be shy at the first appointment.
-
We require 24 hours notice of a cancellation before the session, otherwise you will be asked to pay the full amount.

Yes please. We ask that parents/carers stay with their child during therapy and assessment sessions. It is so important for parents/carers to participate in the therapy process as they know their child best. Plus, we model strategies, tips and activities during sessions which are vital for the carryover process at home.
